Why Go
The Lake Tahoe region is a popular destination to ring in the new year while also enjoying winter sports. If you’re looking to end the year with a bang, South Lake Tahoe is the best bet. But if you’re after a more tranquil and family-friendly experience, then head to North Lake Tahoe.
We’re focused on the events and activities at the Tahoe Donner, Northstar, and Palisades Tahoe ski resorts for this trip. While you can mix and match, it’s logistically easier to focus on one resort. Tahoe Donner offers a smaller, more intimate, and wallet-friendly option. Northstar and Palisades have beautiful villages with shops, restaurants, and all the amenities you would expect from a world-class destination.
For New Year’s Eve, you can find fireworks at Tahoe Donner and Palisades, and a “Drone Show” at Northstar. In addition, the Tahoe Donner and Palisades events include a light parade, where you ski or snowboard down an easy run while holding lights. It’s a unique and unforgettable experience. Northstar and Palisades also offer live music.
Whichever resort you choose, North Lake Tahoe provides a memorable experience to celebrate the new year with your family and friends.
